The 2013 Oscars

The 2013 Oscars are over.  I didn't even see it myself, and I love Seth McFarlane but, I did read the news of the unnecessary event and am pleasantly excited by the nights events however frivolous they may have been.  The reason I am excited about the news is because Django Unchained won multiple awards, including Quentin's second Oscar, for best original screenplay for Django.

The reason this news excites me is because I felt Django was a very gutsy and honest film.  Not to mention beautifully directed, filmed, and written, as well as superbly performed by its all star cast.  I don't usually care about the Oscars at all because it just seems so pretentious and irrelevant.  I do love it when the Hollywood insiders are forced to acknowledge and reward true art and talent.  It's rare but, sometimes, it does happen.  Since it did this year, I felt I had to report on it here.  Way to go Academy, way to grow a pair.
A few other notable highlights were, Argo winning best picture and Daniel Day Lewis winning his third Oscar for the role of President Lincoln in the bio pic Lincoln.  I also liked the choice of host and I meant to watch it just for Seth McFarland but, I cared so little about the Oscars, I missed it in spite of meaning to sit through it to see him host.
