In this 1993 film Johnny Depp plays Gilbert Grape, a young man growing up in a small town that is caring for his morbidly obese mother, and autistic brother Arnie, played masterfully by Leonardo DiCaprio. Gilbert had given up on his future and embraced his role as caretaker to his family after his father commits suicide. They never talk about their father in front Arnie in fear of his reaction. All of this starts to change when Gilbert meets a girl named Becky, played by Juliet Lewis, who is passing through and gets stranded when their truck breaks down.
This movie is a very heartwarming film that will stay with you forever. Superbly written, directed, and performed by it's cast, What's Eating Gilbert Grape is a tremendous classic movie that should not be missed. If you haven't seen it, do yourself a favor and seek it out. You will be glad you did.
The 'Rocky' series of films are among some of my favorite movies of all time. There are six films total in the series, Rocky 1 - 5, and Rocky Balboa. All of the films center around Rocky Balboa, a small time boxer who is given a shot at the title but, they are really so much more than that. They also tell a beautiful love story of Rocky and his wife Adrian, they have great stories of deep friendships, and ultimately they all show you the importance of love, and that with enough heart, desire, and will anything is possible in life. These movies always inspire me, and make me feel good any time I watch them.
The 2013 Oscars are over. I didn't even see it myself, and I love Seth McFarlane but, I did read the news of the unnecessary event and am pleasantly excited by the nights events however frivolous they may have been. The reason I am excited about the news is because Django Unchained won multiple awards, including Quentin's second Oscar, for best original screenplay for Django.
